The large urn before the Main Hall is for offering incense. Incense was originally offered to purify the body of the worshipper. Over time, it has become believed that the wafting of the smoke on physical infirmities improves healing.
Way to worship:
Place 100 yen (Japanese coin) in the slot in front and take out one bundle of incense.
Press the black button on the left side to light the ends of incense sticks.
Gently extinguish the flames and stand the incense in the urn's center as an offering.
Place both hands together quietly and pray.
After praying, bow once with palms still together.
