This flower has been loved by Japanese since ancient times and is sung in Manyoshu(Late 7th century).Because of the love of Hidetada Tokugawa(Early 17th century), the general of the Edo Shogunate, it spread from Samurai to many people and was planted in many gardens.
As you can see from the scientific name "Camellia japonica", it is one of the most representative flowers in Japan.
